Well, it’s not above beast specifications, like Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 and JBL Quantum One, but the most sensible feature set. Picking a midranger like Logitech is all due to a perfect balance of gaming intent and pricing. I mean, everything is abundant. For example, if you choose similar battery life and wireless, Corsair Virtuoso SE will be the best alternative but will cost you over 200 bucks.  

Anyways, in the design part, the soft dual-layer memory foam really did conform to my head and reduced stress points, which remained great for long gaming sessions. And those suspension headbands? They’re just so darn cool with the right clamping force to deal with almost every head size. 

Plus, for RGB lovers, being able to personalize the headset lighting with 16.8 million colors and a variety of preset animations (or even creating my own with the G HUB software) is just so much fun.

But let’s be honest! Not everything in life is tailor-made to perfection.

On the one hand, the exclusive reliance on a USB wireless dongle for stereo sound can be somewhat restrictive.

NEW SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 – Best Runner Up

Why did we choose this? Seeing it’s wireless capabilities, I had choose this as best wireless gaming headset due to excellent AI-noise canceling abilities and more value to money over it’s brother Arctis 7x and Arctis 9x 

But from a broader perspective, I did test Nova 7 on other models, such as the Razer Kraken Pro V2, due to similar prices. But note down, the majority of the story revolves around 360° Spatial Audio that boosts exceptional sound quality which immerses you in the game. And then, there is a most killer combo Pro-grade Parametric EQ for fully customizable sound and humongous 38-hrs battery life made me feel so potent during my gaming sessions.

Being a Dota 2 fan, these headphones effortlessly found their way to a perfect fit on my noggin during gameplay. Plus, their colossal size engulfed my ears like an audio-hungry kraken, that’s proved vital for that sweet, sweet sound isolation.

No disrespect to Logitech G Pro X but I really liked the Steelseries rotating earcups more, which were sort of avant-garde for me in this price range. It was like they were hugging my ears, but not in a creepy way. The cushioning comfort was supreme; I hadn’t my ears sweating  in long gaming sessions. I could wear these babies for hours without any discomfort!

One thing I loved about the design was the retractable mic; the similar you can see in Razor Nari. It made me feel like a spy, or like I was working in some sort of secret service. I could easily pull it out when I needed to communicate with my teammates and retract it when I didn’t.

As much as I love the Arctis Nova 7, I have to admit that there’s one design flaw that I find a bit of a drawback; the weight. The headset weighs around 325gms, which may feel a bit heavy for some people, especially if you’re planning on wearing it for extended periods.

Don’t get me wrong, the headset is built to last, and the steel construction feels solid and sturdy, but that weight can be a bit of an issue for some.

The 360° Spatial Audio provided some of the best surround sounds I’ve experienced. While the frequency response may not be earning any gold medals compared to the Corsair HS8 and ASUS ROG Theta, as it only spans from 20Hz to 20kHz, it still delivers a solid performance. In games like Call of Duty and Rainbow Six Siege, I never missed a beat—or rather, a footstep, rustle, or gunshot. It’s like a trusty sidekick, always ready to keep you in the loop with those sneaky in-game sounds.

What really inspired me was the dual audio streams feature. The ability to mix two audio connections at the same time and use Bluetooth simultaneously for calls, Discord, music, and podcasts was very unique (at least for me).

G PRO X had an impedance of 35 Ohms and a frequency response range of 20Hz-20KHz. Now, I’m not an audiophile, but what I do know is that these specs mean that the Logitech G PRO X Wireless headset is a beast when it comes to sound quality.

The Astro A10 Gen 2’s flip-to-mute mic is the icing on the cake. Need some privacy? Just flip it up! Ready to coordinate a devastating team attack? Flip it down and let your voice ring through the 6.0 mm unidirectional mic like a battle cry. 

You can also get this standard of Flip-to-mute mic feature in Steelseries Arctis 5 and Turtle Beach Stealth 600. But again, they all are more expensive than A10, so value to money is a thing to get appreciated again. 

However, this headset isn’t meant for larger heads. The headset has a fixed size, and the headband may not extend enough to fit larger heads comfortably. This can result in discomfort and pressure on the head, especially during extended gaming sessions.

Performance and Gameplay

Astro A10’s sound quality is top-notch and the audio is crystal clear, making it easy to hear your enemies’ footsteps; mimicking like a sixth sense in the game.

Considering the price point, the bass is punchy enough and the treble is crispy so that you can hear every little detail in your game. I put this bad boy through its paces with Resident Evil 4, Forza Horizon 4, and Sniper Elite 5 as my testing grounds. Overall, it captured even the faintest sound effects, which is quite impressive but don’t expect an elite performance. Despite that, the headset still offers an immersive experience that’s easy on the wallet.

One thing that also should be in your mind, it isn’t super audibly customizable. Specifically, I felt very limited while playing with the Bass.

The 40mm neodymium drivers produce rich and immersive sound but don’t bring it against Arctis Nova 7 or Logitech G733. 

I loved the low-latency audio feature that made a superb sync between audio and video. It’s like having superhuman reflexes, you’ll be able to react faster to in-game situations.

But here’s the thing, it’s not perfect. I did experience some issues with the mic picking up background noise. Other than that, Ah, the elusive surround sound. Indeed, it would have been the icing on the cake if the A10s had boasted this feature. If you’re gaming in a noisy environment, you might have trouble hearing the audio clearly. For that purpose, the better choice would be Arctis 5 which has DTS 360 spatial audio.

Alternative to Astro A10: SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1P

While the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1P is a solid gaming headset, the Astro A10 Gaming Headset Gen 2 is the clear winner for gamers who prioritize audio quality and comfort. With the custom-designed Nova Acoustic System, the Arctis Nova 1P delivers decent sound, but it doesn’t quite match the clarity and depth of the A10.

Also, I found that much of Arctis Nova 1P lacks quality as advertised. For instance, it boasts immersive 360° spatial audio, but compared to A10’s audio performance, it is no slouch either, with its drivers delivering clear and powerful sound with a frequency response of 20Hz – 20kHz.
